CRIMSON ROSELLAS

Crimson Rosellas are often seen in the trees on your right as you approach the 18th green.  Seen in pairs or small flocks, they gracefully weave through the treetops as they feed on seeds, berries, nectar, and insects.

Crimson Rosellas are strikingly beautiful parrots and are quite common here at South Lakes. Adults have bright crimson plumage on their heads and bodies, with contrasting blue cheeks, wings and tail. Juveniles are mostly green, gradually developing their vibrant adult colours as they mature.

Crimson Rosellas are known for their musical, bell-like calls and their acrobatic flight through the treetops. They are a common sight in woodlands, gardens, and parks, bringing a splash of colour to the landscape wherever they appear.

The Adelaide Rosella is a unique subspecies of the Crimson Rosella, distinguished by its blend of scarlet and yellow-orange plumage. Found primarily in the Adelaide region and parts of South Australia, it is sometimes seen here on South Lakes.
