Junior Golf and MyGolf

Junior Golf at South Lakes Golf Club

At South Lakes Golf Club, we are dedicated to growing the game of golf — and it’s no secret that junior golfers are the future of our sport. Our Junior Golf Program has been carefully designed to challenge and support both new and experienced young players, helping them develop their skills, techniques, and confidence to succeed on and off the course.

The program focuses not only on teaching the fundamentals of golf — including swing mechanics, short game, and course management — but also on instilling the values of hard work, perseverance, and consistent practice. We aim to create a fun, inclusive, and motivating environment where juniors can enjoy learning the game while building lifelong friendships and a true love for golf.

Junior Clinics & Programs

Our Junior Golf Clinics run throughout the year and cater to all ages and skill levels. During the school term, our clinics are held on Sundays and are designed to help juniors progress at their own pace in a fun and supportive environment.

We offer four distinct clinic pathways:

  • Elite Juniors – Focused on advanced players who are competing or preparing for tournament golf, with a strong emphasis on course strategy, performance, and skill refinement.
  • AGF Junior Girls Clinics – Supported through the Australian Golf Foundation, these clinics are tailored specifically for junior girls, providing a welcoming and encouraging space to learn and grow in the game.
  • Development Squad Clinics – Designed for intermediate golfers who are building consistency and confidence while learning more advanced skills and on-course awareness.
  • Rookie Clinics – Perfect for beginners taking their first steps into golf, introducing them to the basics of the game in a relaxed and enjoyable setting.

In addition to our Sunday clinics, we partner with local schools to deliver golf as part of their sports programs — giving students a fun and accessible introduction to the game.

Our School Holiday Clinics are another highlight, offering an exciting and social way for juniors to learn, play, and improve during their school break. These sessions are always popular and a great way to stay active while developing golf skills in a friendly and inclusive environment.

Program Growth & Community Impact

Over the past four years, our Junior Golf Program has experienced tremendous growth — expanding from just 5 juniors to now over 40 active participants. This growth is a testament to the passion, commitment, and supportive environment that South Lakes Golf Club continues to foster for young golfers.

We take great pride in seeing so many juniors enjoying the game, developing their skills, and building friendships along the way. Watching their enthusiasm each week reminds us why we are so dedicated to growing the game of golf. At South Lakes, we believe golf offers much more than just competition — it teaches valuable life skills, encourages sportsmanship, and most importantly, provides a fun and positive experience for every young player who steps onto the course.
